It’s a Parent Café in the New Year!
CCS’ Pre-K Program is sponsoring a Parent Café on Tuesday, January 15 at 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. in the Pre-K Office, located at 1307 Hillsboro Street in Fayetteville. The theme is “A New Year, A New You: It Takes a Healthy Village to Raise a Healthy Child.” Parent Café planners are encouraging parents to wear their favorite exercise gear and to bring a friend to the monthly gathering. Parent Cafés are a series of parent group conversations where parents can make new friends, engage in positive conversations, and learn about school and community resources. Parent Cafés follow a specific process and a set of questions that motivate parents to share thoughts, feelings, and experiences they need to talk about. Most importantly, the Parent Café process includes follow-up, leading to real change in the lives of families and communities. The sessions are free and open to staff and parents. The meeting is open to the public.

Festival Brings Elementary & High School Students Together for Cultural Understanding, Respect
Third-grade International Baccalaureate (IB) students from Ed V. Baldwin and Rockfish elementary schools will converge on the campus of South View High School (SVHS) on Friday, January 18 from 8:30 a.m. – noon to participate in the high school’s International Baccalaureate Academy’s 4th Annual Around the World Festival. The event, which encourages global education, will expose the elementary school students to cultures, traditions, and languages from around the world. The Festival will also serve to support the IB premise of “developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.” For more information about the Festival, call SVHS at 910.425.8181.
